Thomas is a cheeky blue tank engine who runs his own branch line. He was first introduced in 1985 by Hornby using their LBSCR E2 model with extended side tanks, wheel arches and a taller funnel. In 2021 when the model Thomas was rereleased as and E2 most is the modifications give to the e2 in 1985 besides the face were kept .
Thomas has been given a few different faces over the years.

Trivia
- The original models depict Thomas as dark blue which should have been light blue. This was fixed on his 2015 re-release.
- The Thomas model originally came fitted with traction tires on the centre driving wheels which helps give the model grip on the rails. However, these have been removed from Thomas models produced in recent years to improve running preformance.
- Over the years his face has turned from grey to white.
- Thomas' 1985-2014 models have a blue running board, whilst his 2015 model has a white running board.
